Tucked away among the many easy fights of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World of Light are some of the toughest challenges in the whole game. Maybe the whole series, honestly. Some of these Spirit battles are nearly impossible, unless you know the trick. One that has caused particular trouble is Jeff, who is an Assist Trophy that deals some pretty lethal damage. Along with him firing off missiles, you have to contend with a bunch of Inklings who are doing all they can to take you out. There’s no easy trick here, but here’s some tips on how to beat Jeff in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World of Light.
One thing you can do that will certainly help is to use the right Spirits. We shared some tips on that here and here, so look those over and come on back. One to watch for is any Spirit that gives you a Franklin Badge. This item will temporarily reflect projectiles weapons off of your character. This creates an early opening in which you can try to take out some of the Inklings that will pester you throughout the whole fight.
After that the way to beat Jeff is all about positioning on the stage. I found the best spot to be on the road, just under the awning on the left side. Using Link or any other character with nice reach and an upward attack can help cheese some of this fight. Any time an Inkling lands above or near you, you should hit them with as much force as possible, both sending them flying and dealing tons of damage. This will hopefully send them off-screen to their KO, but it at the very least buys you some time to prepare for other attacks. You never want to get surrounded.
One thing to watch for are the cars that scream across the road, damaging anyone in their path. Dodge these if at all possible, or you will not last long. If they’re too much of a problem then the right platform near the clothesline is likely your next best spot to take the Inklings and Jeff on. Once the Franklin Badge wears off you’ll need to watch for Jeff’s missiles and dodge them as needed. Keep this up, while peppering the Inkling with attacks and you should come out victorious.
