Hey look, it’s Friday the 13th. In the Wordle world, will there be something related to the slasher film franchise? Well, no, though it would be cool to use terms relating to the horror franchise. The practicality of that is yet to be determined. Anyhow, here are some hints and the answer to today’s Wordle (May 13, 2022).

How Does Wordle Work?

Wordle is a popular word-guessing game where you have to enter five-letter words and use the game’s clues to help you find the word of the day. The more green and yellow you get, the closer you are to unscrambling them to get the answer!

The optimal way to play the game is to start your first word with a lot of vowels, followed by using unique letters per attempt. The more letters you rule out, the easier time you’ll have in figuring out what a word will be. There are 26 letters in the English alphabet, so you can at least rule out more than half of the alphabet by your third attempt if you follow these tips.

Chances are if you guessed your first three words with all different letters, there is an extremely high chance that you landed at least one yellow or green box. From there, even as early as your second attempt, use those to help you construct the word of the day.

Alternatively, for those who need an extra boost, you can “cheat” the game by following some simple methods. Though, these do trivialize and ultimately defeat the purpose of the game. If anything, it can just help boost your skills if you do get serious with the popular browser game.

You can play Wordle for free via smart device or PC on the New York Times’ website.
