Marvel has announced an additional film for their phase 3 lineup, in the form of a sequel to Ant-man. The title of the film will be, Ant-man and the Wasp, and will be released on July 6th, 2018. The first Ant-man film was released back in May, and was met with positive reception and a successful box office return. While the film didn’t make back the same amount of money as other Marvel films, the company is confident that going forward, Ant-man will be a pivotal mainstay of the universe.

I try to avoid spoilers in a film, but beware reading ahead. At the end credits scene of Ant-man, it was revealed that Hank Pym had been designing a new prototype that Hope Van Dyne will don in the next entry. Ant-man is also expected to make an appearance in Captain America: Civil War, which releases on May 6th, 2016. Other films that will be in phase 3 include: Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and the new Spider-man film.

I was a big fan of the first Ant-man film, and felt that Paul Rudd really brought the character of Scott Lang to life. The combination of humor and a origin story really worked out in my opinion, and I can’t wait to see the Wasp on screen.
