Burger King has brought back its Halloween menu for 2025, with the bright orange Jack-O-Lantern Whopper covered in black sesame seeds. The seasonal menu, which Burger King calls the “Monster Menu,” also has Vampire Nuggets, Mummy Mozzarella Fries, and a purple Franken-Candy Sundae. Social media creators have been trying out these spooky items since the company announced them on September 29.
The orange bun with black sesame seeds has become the most talked about item, with many people asking what it could taste like. Every year when Burger King brings out this Halloween item, customers wonder if the orange color means pumpkin flavor or something else. The bright orange look makes it one of the most interesting items on any fast food menu during Halloween season.
The big surprise is that the orange color does not come from food dye or pumpkin. Burger King uses paprika to give the bun its bright orange look, and it does not change the flavor at all, as many TikTokers said. The black sesame seeds also taste like regular sesame seeds, so the whole thing just tastes like a normal burger bun. While this might disappoint some customers who wanted a pumpkin-spiced burger, at least it means the burger still tastes good and is just like a regular Whopper.
So What Do People Actually Think About It?
TikTok food reviewers have been sharing what they think about the Monster Menu items. Creator Laney tried Burger King for the first time ever and really liked the Franken-Candy Sundae with its green popping candy. While she called the orange and black theme “fun,” she said it was still just a normal Whopper under the colorful bun.
The reviewer couple behind the account Cocoeatz had a different opinion. They said the bun tasted better than usual, though they admitted this might just be their brain playing tricks because of the bright colors. “Dare I say, this is even better than the normal Whopper,” said one reviewer, with the other adding, “Something about that orange bun.”
Morgan Chomps gave the Jack-O-Lantern Whopper a 9.5 out of 10 rating on TikTok, but agreed that the color change did not make it taste any better. “It’s nothing super new,” she said. “I mean, I’ve had a bacon and cheese Whopper before.” While fast food chains keep putting out Halloween treats, some Americans are seeing worrying problems with their Halloween celebrations this year.
Burger King’s Chief Marketing Officer Joel Yashinsky said the company has “dialed up the fun and flavor” this year with themed menu items, packaging, special crowns, collectible buckets, and Scooby-Doo toys. The Vampire Nuggets are now available in the King Jr. Meal for kids, which is the first time they have been part of the children’s menu.
