Call of Duty: WW2 Attack of the Undead Community Event Combines Zombies with Multiplayer

by C.J. Keller

Zombies and Competitive MP combine in latest Call of Duty WW2 Event.

Sledgehammer Games has announced a new multi-week event for Call of Duty: WW2.  The event will feature new game modes, new weapons, new gear and community challenges for the Call of Duty community.

The first week of Attack of the Undead event starts on May 29th with an update that’s rolling out to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.  This first update will introduce zombies into the competitive multiplayer portions in three new modes:  Infected, Hordepoint, and Relic of the Undead.

Infected is a mode that we’ve seen in other games.  It starts one player out as a zombie and their job is to infect the remaining players in a match.  The game ends when either all the players have been infected or all the zombies are killed.

Hordepoint is a riff on the popular Hardpoint mode from competitive MP.  Here the winning team must defend the Hardpoint from the attacking team and zombies that will try and oust you from the zobe.  This one will be arriving on June 5th.

Later next month on June 12th the Relic of the Dead mode will release and task players with collecting a skull relic and holding it for your team.  In what sounds like a zombies take on Oddball from the Halo series.

Alongside these new modes to play, there will be a number of new weapons to earn as well.  The Bluderbuss shotgun, PTRS-41 Sniper, Nambu Type 2 SMG, and two new melee weapons will be available from Captain Butcher during the event and will be available until June 26th.

Furthermore, the new Groesten Haus map will be introduced to play the limited time modes.  You’ll remember this cabin from The Final Reich, where the Nazi Zombies first appeared in the game.  With this new content comes a number of boosts and challenges that include things like double and triple XP, as well as thing like new Contracts and Orders to complete.
