Deep Silver has decided to part ways with the developer who was making Dead Island 2.  A statement from the company was recently released that revealed the disolution of the partnership, and Deep Silver’s dedication to releasing the sequel.

Today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner YAGER.

“With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve.  After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner YAGER. We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.”

Dead Island 2 seemed like it might be having some trouble on the development front, after missing E3 2015 entirely.  A initial showing of the game at E3 2014 with little follow-up on details throughout the year was a pretty good clue that things might be amiss.   Back in April, Deep Silver officially delayed the game from 2015 to 2016.

Yager is most recently known for their work on the critically acclaimed title, Spec Ops: The Line.
