Destiny’s reign on top of the UK charts is now over with FIFA 15 coming out on top to sit on the throne.
Football/soccer games are always popular in the UK and it is to be expected that FIFA 15 was to top the charts this week. The game is likely to say on the UK charts for many months from here on out. The UK fans cannot get enough of both the sport and the game.
More interestingly, FIFA 15 accounted for over 80 percent of all game sales bought last week. That is a huge chunk of the video game market share. Not even Destiny and Disney Infinity were enough to take down Lionel Messi and his friends.
The PS4 and Xbox One versions of FIFA 15 collectively got 54 percent of sales for the game. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game accounted for 45 percent of sales. This means there are still a lot of UK gamers still playing on the older machines this year. The numbers are sure to drop next year when the inevitable FIFA 16 comes out.
What’s even more interesting about the UK charts is that the Xbox 360 version of Minceraft and Call of Duty: Ghosts continue to sell well. Both games outsold the newer Watch Dogs and The Sims 4.
