Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – First Assault Online

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – First Assault Online Early Access Packs have been released on Steam for as low as $4.99. The online multiplayer first-person shooter adaptation of Production I.G’s iconic anime series currently features a handful of multiplayer modes and introduces special abilities unique to each character.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Ghost in the Shell franchise, Stand Alone Complex takes place in the fictional Japanese city of Niihama in the year 2030.  The story follows members of an elite cyborg task force known as Public Security Section 9.  The group is tasked with solving crimes in a city wrought with bionically enhanced criminals.

In First Assault Online, players can assume the role of any member of Section 9.  Special abilities range from temporary invisibility to control of armed drones.  Upon reaching Tier 2 of certain character abilities, team members within a radius are granted the option of using that ability as well via SkillSync.  Tactical thinking and teamwork reward players with the highest chance of victory.  New weapons and modifications can be purchased with points acquired in game.

There are currently only 3 different play modes to chose from: Team Death Match, Terminal Conquest, and Demolition.  Due to the lack of content, I wouldn’t drop $25 for the Elite Early Access Pack, but for what it currently is, fans of the series may enjoy the game’s unique FPS features.
