Guest chef arrives in Florida for a 280-cover dinner, then realizes he forgot his chef pants with under an hour to fix it: ‘All I brought was shorts’

A wardrobe mix-up left him 45 minutes to find a solution

Cooking for 280 reservations is a big enough responsibility without having to deal with a wardrobe emergency. But that’s exactly what happened to guest chef Chef Moe before a Florida pop-up event. He said he discovered that the pants he thought he’d packed were actually another chef coat, with just 45 minutes left before service.

Moe, who posts on TikTok as @chat_n_chops, described the moment in a video that has gained hundreds of thousands of views after he arrived in Florida for a pop-up event.

He explained that he had been invited to cook at a well-known restaurant and that he created the menu the night before. Chef Moe stated that the restaurant already had 280 reservations plus walk-ins and that he needed to be there in about 45 minutes.

Guest chef faces tight deadline after uniform mix-up in Florida

His hotel was only about five minutes away, he said, so he started getting ready and pulled out his uniform. When he laid the pieces on an ironing board, he discovered that what he thought were his black pants were actually another chef coat.

Chef Moe said in the video, “You can’t make this sh–t up. Seriously, you can’t make this up.” He added that if getting f–ked was an Olympic sport, he would have 10 gold medals and would be the Michael Phelps of getting f–ked.

He explained that he was invited as a guest chef to cook at the Florida restaurant and that he had to be on the line in 45 minutes. On-screen text in the video noted the number of covers and thanked people who were coming out and supporting him.

Chef Moe said he took out his coat, hat, and pants and planned to iron them because they get wrinkled from being in a bag. He held up the black garment and told viewers, “They’re not black pants. It’s another chef coat.” He stated that he now had 45 minutes to find himself some chef pants and asked if anyone knew what he should do or where he should go.

He considered other options and said, “And yeah, I could put on any pair of pants, right? No, I’m in Florida. All I brought was shorts.” Chef Moe added that he would find some pants and that he would cook in his f–king underwear if he had to. He thanked everyone who was coming out to see him and everyone who supports him, and he said he would let people know how it went in the next video.

Viewers offered a range of reactions to the packing problem. Some tried to calm him down or suggested practical fixes, while others focused on his language. One commenter wrote, “Holy calm down Unc.” Another suggested, “just explain to the restaurant what happened and wear your jeans.” Restaurant choices spark plenty of online debate too, such as whether hibachi is the right restaurant for a diner who just wants the food.

A different viewer offered a more direct idea and wrote, “Call the restaurant and ask them if someone who works there can lend you some.” One person raised concern about how the story was told and wrote, “please rephrase this, people will take it the wrong way.” One more viewer took a lighter tone and wrote, “Chef Moe is about to have like 10 new pairs of pants show up at his hotel room!!”
