While the Mass Effect trilogy is considered by many to be one of the best that gaming has to offer, the general consensus was that how it all concluded left a lot to be desired. Despite the next game in the series taking place in the same universe, many will be happy to know that their decisions form the third game have no impact on the new one.
BioWare’s Aaryon Flynn recently spoke to Eurogamer about everyone’s decisions in Mass Effect 3 and their impact on the next game, saying “We acknowledged it in the endings of Mass Effect 3 and I think that’s where we want to leave it for now. We want this to be a new story and it would be very hard to say it’s a new story but also that you need to understand how [the past trilogy] ended.”
They go on to say that they’ve “done it in such a way that allows all of those decisions you made to remain intact in the canon of the universe, but also allows a new story to begin.”
While we still haven’t gotten the big reveal for Mass Effect Andromeda with all of details on the game, that is expected to come after the releases of Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 this Fall. The game is currently set to launch in Spring of 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
