It's sounding like Diablo 4 is going to take some time.
It’s been quite some time since Diablo III arrived. When it originally launched back in 2012, it wasn’t met with the kindest of receptions and got off to a very rocky launch. Looking back now, the game has come a long way with numerous expansions arriving, tons of new features, multiple console versions of the game which touched current and previous-gen platforms.
Apparently Blizzard is nowhere near done with the Diablo franchise, and they’ve recently released the video above to let fans know that what’s next for the franchise may be right around the corner.
Assistant Community Manager, Brandy Camel made a video teasing the future of Diablo and says that Blizzard might have details about what’s next for the franchise as soon as this year.
“The forges here at Blizzard are burning hot, and we have multiple Diablo projects in the works,” says Camel. “Some of them are going to take longer than others, but we may have some things to show you later this year.” Camel ends the short address by stating that Diablo will always be a part of the Blizzard identity and that they can’t wait for the future of the series.
Later this year could very well mean that the big reveal of a new Diablo game could be coming at Blizz-Con 2018. The convention of all things Blizzard is set for November 2nd & 3rd in Anaheim, Ca.
Diablo III is still very much alive and kicking. Blizzard just kicked off the fourteenth season for the game, and this time around Blizzard changed things up a bit with the introduction of themed seasons. This first themed season for Diablo III is called The Season of Greed. This theme modifies the game slightly in that there are double the treasure goblins in the game, meaning that there will be more rewards.
It looks like Diablo fans will want to be paying close attention to the announcements at BlizzCon later this year, but Camel’s statements do sound like Diablo 4 could be a long way off.
