About two months ago, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate stole the show at E3, as it was revealed that the game would include every character that has ever appeared in the series, as well as introducing Metroid‘s Ridley as a newcomer, an inclusion that fans have clamored for for a long time. It was also revealed that the game would be coming out this December, leaving half a year open for more information to eventually come out.
Now we know when we can expect more info about the highly anticipated game, since the Nintendo Versus Twitter page recently announced that a Nintendo Direct stream focusing solely on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is scheduled for this Wednesday, August 8. The stream is scheduled for 7:00am PST/10:00am EST and will be “featuring new game information delivered by director Masahiro Sakurai.”
It’s possible that a new character will be announced during the stream, but it might be best to not get your hopes up for that kind of announcement, since Sakurai stated during Nintendo’s E3 presentation that he’s “kind of hoping you aren’t expecting too many new challengers.” In addition to including every playable character that has appeared in the series, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will also include every item and stage that has appeared in a previous Smash Bros. game.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will launch on the Nintendo Switch on December 7.
