Grand Theft Auto V nudged out Call of Duty: Ghosts for the top honor in 2013, but Ghosts did do better in December than Rockstar’s offering.

The Hardware
December numbers for hardware were up significantly with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 bringing plenty of new buyers to market. Â The Xbox One outsold the PS4 in NPD Reporting, Sony attributes this to supply shortages. Â Nintendo also had their best month yet. Â According to leaked data from the report, the Wii U could have sold as many as 500,000 units.
Though the Nintendo 3DS continues to dominate all. Â The 3DS was the hardware sales leader, not just for December, but for the entire year. Â Big games for the platform like Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Luigi’s Mansion, Pokemon X & Y, and the latest Zelda adventure spurred consumers to pick up the handheld in droves in 2013.
