Nintendo has been adamant about their next generation console, and the fact that they aren’t competing with anyone in race to have the most powerful system.  With rumors that surfaced yesterday saying that their upcoming console was less powerful than current generation hardware from Microsoft and Sony, the company has responded.

“We don’t focus on technology specs,” Nintendo recently told Yahoo!.  “We understand that people like to dissect graphics and processing power, but the experience of playing will always be more important than raw numbers.”  With many third party titles due to arrive with the console later this year, developers have begun to speak out about the console.

Randy Pitchford of Gearbox Software believes that people “are gonna be surprised”, while others have gone on the record to claim that the hardware is “on par” with current generation offerings.

Nintendo’s next console is slated for release later this year, presumably in November, which another rumor suggested.
