Just announced via Twitter, Psychonauts 2 will have a special panel and gameplay demo for E3 2019. In addition, the panel will include Double Fine President, Tim Schafer, and Tenacious D front man Jack Black. No other information was given, but the fact that Psychonauts 2 is getting the spotlight at gaming’s biggest convention is nothing short of amazing.

We haven’t heard a lot about the title since The Game Awards 2018 where we got a brand new trailer along with a tentative release timeframe for 2019. Before that, the last time we saw anything related to Psychonauts 2 was at The Game Awards in 2015 where it was first announced. When we take a look back on the entire ordeal that Double Fine went through, it’s a miracle that the game is even being worked on today. Schafer had a lot of trouble selling the game to publishers for numerous reasons before settling on Starbreeze Studios.

Unfortunately, Starbreeze themselves have been going through a financial turmoil as of late. Despite that, Tim Schafer and company appear to be confident Starbreeze and plan to continue working with them through the development process. Its been a long time coming, and it’s way too early to say if the game will merit any profit or success. But one thing is for certain, Psychonauts 2 looks like it will finally release for everyone to play, but when we will actually get our hands on it, is still unknown. We’ll just have to wait until E3 2019.
