The voice of Raiden, Quinton Flynn, recently admitted he wanted David Hayter to voice Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

As most of you will know by now, Big Boss is voiced by Kiefer Sutherland in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. This came as a surprise to many fans as David Hayter has been the voice of Big Boss and Solid Snake since 1998.

In an new interview with Fragged Nation, Flynn expressed his feelings when he first heard that David Hayter was not involved in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Flynn admitted he signed a petition to bring Hayter back to the series. He not only signed the petition, but he also “wrote a letter of support” to Hayter too.

Flynn said he doesn’t know the full story on why Hayter was dropped in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. He assumes it was just a business decision. Although Flynn admitted that being replaced by Kiefer Sutherland shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing. He said Sutherland will do a “capable performance“. He then said getting replaced is just part of the acting process in general.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain comes out from September 1st.
