State of Decay 2 is set to arrive in May, but prior to release there will be a technical beta to iron out the bugs ahead of time.
Undead Labs recently started taking applications to be in the technical beta, and those interested in participating can do apply here. The only requirements appear to be that the beta tester have an Xbox Live account, whether on PC or not. The exact dates for the beta have not been revealed as of yet.
State of Decay 2 will arrive on Xbox One and PC on May 22nd, so the beta should be here shortly. This Xbox exclusive title was recently announced to be launching as a game featured on Xbox Game Pass.
State of Decay 2 is a console exclusive for the Xbox One, and one Microsoft’s last opportunities to impress ahead of E3 2018. Where Sea of Thieves didn’t quite resonate with fans, Undead Labs has a chance to capture some momentum for the Xbox heading into the summer as the topic of many Xbox conversations have been around the lack of quality exclusives on the console — even Phil Spencer recently addressed the issue.
Being in the Xbox Game Pass library should help the launch in terms of sheer player numbers. It did for Sea of Thieves, as the number of players who took advantage of the free trial of the service to play Rare’s pirate faring title were said to be over 50%.
