Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U has been doling out its first selections of character DLC lately. It all started with Mewtwo, which owners of both games received for free, and is moving on now with the returning character Lucas. Lucas comes from Mother 3, a game in the Earthbound series that has never seen a US release. However, despite his relative unknown status in the West, he has been a hugely popular Smash Bros. character for many years. His moveset is largely based around Ness’, another character from the Earthbound series. Players will be able to purchase Lucas within the DLC store on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS starting June 14th.
No price details were given, but presumably he will cost the same as Mewtwo did for those that had to pay for him. To add Mewtwo to your roster cost $3.99 for one system, or $4.99 for both. One other important thing to note is that all playable characters in Super Smash Bros. will be getting their own Amiibo, including DLC characters. This means we can expect a Lucas Amiibo at some point in the future.
Lucas is the last of the currently announced DLC characters coming to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS. With it hitting right at the start of E3 week many speculate that Nintendo is preparing to announce another, or possibly multiple new DLC characters heading to the games. We’ll be at the event so check back here for updates on all things E3 2015 related starting June 14th.
UPDATE: A Wii U Miiverse stage and Splatoon Mii Fighter costumes will be added via an update at the same time.
