Super Smash Bros. Stream Will Be Held Before Digital Event On Sunday

Super Smash Bros. may have released for both 3DS and Wii U late last year, but the game is still being talked about constantly with the addition of DLC for the first time in the series. There was little doubt we’d probably hear news of the next DLC character during next Tuesday’s Nintendo Digital Event, but it sounds like those announcements may be starting a little earlier than expected.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS have already gotten Mewtwo and Lucas is coming later this week, but there are still multiple other characters likely to come after the announcement of the Smash Fighter Ballot during the last full Nintendo Direct in April. With rumors of Roy and Ryu in the past and countless being requested through the ballot, any Super Smash Bros. news will be much appreciated.

The major Nintendo Digital Event is scheduled for next Tuesday, June 16 at 9 am PT, but the official Nintendo of America Twitter account has now been revealed that a special stream will be held beforehand as well.

“Masahiro Sakurai will host a video presentation about on 6/14 at 7:40 a.m. PT. You don’t want to miss it!”

There is no indication on how long this will be, but I would guess that it won’t be too overly long. Sakurai will likely talk up the game itself and then give the reveal for an upcoming DLC character or two. I wouldn’t even be surprised if he revealed a few new stages as well or something. There has to be a reason to have a special presentation and just a character or two doesn’t seem to be reason enough for that.

Also of note, Nintendo of America also revealed that this coming Sunday, June 14 will hold a special Treehouse Live pre-show stream prior to the Nintendo World Championships. This will not start until 2:35 pm PT, while the NWC start at 3 pm PT, so they can’t have too much to show off in that time span.
