Fans of the System Shock series have a long-awaited third entry in the series on the horizon, though developer Night Dive Studios also intends to remaster the original game in the series. However, they are going to be doing it with the help of the fans, as they have revealed that a Kickstarter campaign is coming soon.
The developer revealed that the Kickstarter campaign will begin on June 29th for System Shock Remastered, though they did not reveal any other information regarding the campaign. The first game recently got an enhanced treatment that added in some more graphical options, though this will be a full remake.
Here’s what Night Dive Studios said about the remaster:
“After 20 years, we are remastering and re-imagining the original System Shock. We will keep the new game true to the classic experience, keeping all the things you loved, while updating the user interface and graphics to use a modern day engine (Unity).”
The original version of System Shock released in 1994, with the sequel launching 5 years later in 1999. The games are responsible for inspiring more recent game series like BioShock and Deus Ex.
