Naughty Dog promises Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will still have the same tone and feel as previous games in the franchise.
Naughty Dog as a developer have rarely made serious and depressing video games. With the release of The Last of Us however, this may have been a sign the developer wanted to start making more serious and gritty games. The first trailer for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End hinted the tone of the series could have shifted. Nathan Drake looked down and out as this will be his last adventure ever.
Alas, Naughty Dog has promised Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be nothing like The Last of Us in terms of tone. While speaking with Eurogamer, Naughty Dog’s co-president Evan Wells explained the differences between the two franchises. He said that “Uncharted is a completely different franchise”. He also added they would “alienate a lot of our Uncharted fans” if Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End would be made with a different direction in mind. Uncharted fans love the goofiness of Nathan Drake and others.
Fans can rest easy as Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End won’t be all dark and gloomy. It may be the last game of the series, but it will still be a more happier experience over The Last of Us’ more serious approach.
