The Coalition has explained why the demo for Gears of War 4 at E3 2015 was very dark and gritty.
As reported by DualShockers, The Coalition had a panel at the San Diego Comic Con event. Studio head, Rod Fergusson, described in more detail about the demo for Gears of War 4.
Fergusson described that the demo shown at E3 2015 was to set the tone and mood for the game. He said the fourth game will be more mysterious because we don’t know who the enemies are yet. This is because the Locust from the original trilogy have mostly been “faded away“.
The Coalition’s goal for Gears of War 4 is to return to the original game’s roots of not knowing what is lurking in the shadows. It sounds like they want players to be shocked and surprised with the numerous enemy types that will be in the new game.
Fergusson also said it was great actually going up on the E3 stage to play 7 minutes of the gameplay itself. Many people had expected they would just show a teaser trailer with a long voice over. He said he was shaking nervously while holding the controller playing the game.
Gears of War 4 comes out exclusively for the Xbox One console in Holiday 2016.
