Earlier today we learned that the PlayStation 4 once again took the crown over Xbox One in the monthly NPDs for June, which was not surprising in the least. However, following that reveal, some interesting sales numbers about the biggest gaming week in June were revealed by Microsoft.
The Xbox One definitely had a great showing at E3 with great games and the fantastic reveal of the backwards compatibility, but Sony managed to drop bombs that night that were hard to compete with. Regardless, it sounds like the Microsoft presentation did a great job at selling consoles.
The head of the marketing team for Xbox, Aaron Greenberg, tweeted some interesting information yesterday following the NPD announcement. While they didn’t win the month of June, he revealed that the Xbox One was the best selling console the week of E3.
More specifically, he said there was 79% increase from the same time last year, which is very impressive. For the entire month, sales were up 51% on last year’s numbers for Xbox One, which is also good. Greenberg mentions that the Batman: Arkham Knight bundles did very well, making it hard to beat the PS4 with many purchasing that bundle.
This definitely shows that many people were on the fence about buying a Xbox One going into E3, but the Microsoft conference solidified their purchase.
