Fans were understandably disappointed last month when they heard that Club Nintendo, the long-running rewards program, would be shutting down. However, Nintendo promised some great new items to close out the service, which they delivered on this morning with the unveiling of the full suite of final rewards. New physical items like a Majora’s Mask bag, 3DS cartridge holder, and various posters were supplemented by a huge selection of digital titles, which could be purchased using the free coins earned through the program. However, it seems like Nintendo wasn’t ready for the onslaught of swag obsessed gamers as the site has been down for a few hours.

Club Nintendo is currently unavailable due to site maintenance.
We apologize for any inconvenience.

Sometimes users can reach the main site, although actually being able to login is a rarity. If you can login there are other issues that await, such as an empty coin wallet, and being totally unable to add any new games to your account. Most of the time you’ll simply be greeted by a maintenance warning upon reaching the site.

Actually getting through the order process seems to be impossible at this time, though a few people claim to have placed orders online. The big question is how large the stock is for some of the physical items. As fans are unable them at this time they might sell out to the lucky few who get through the site’s current troubles.

No official word has been given by Nintendo on the current outage, other than the message that occasionally displays when trying to login. Hopefully the problem is simply due to heavy traffic and it will clear up as people give up and try again later. For those seeking the rare physical rewards that time may come a bit too late though.
