There has been no shortage of rumors surrounding what the next Call of Duty game will be. Â In the most recent, research firm SuperData suggests that Treyarch is making Black Ops 3, contrary to other rumors that claimed the next Call of Duty game would be a return to the World at War series.
The report, which can be found here, talks about Activision’s ability to hold on to the top spots with Destiny and Call of Duty, where they then point out that this success “sets the stage for the hotly anticipated fall release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.”
SuperData’s research also stirred the pot when it claimed that a new Resident Evil game would be arriving this fall. Â One that hasn’t yet been announced by Capcom if indeed true. Â The research firm claims that they’re expecting more information to “come down the pipe this year.”
As for Black Ops 3, in an update to this information SuperData points to an announcement by Activision’s Eric Hirshberg from earlier this year that confirmed Treyarch’s role in developing the title, and that “it stands to reason that he’s referring to Black Ops III.”
Right now it’s anyone’s guess as to whether they’re right or wrong. Â With the success of the Black Ops series in recent years, Call of Duty fans won’t likely be disappointed if the franchise sticks to the modern and future warfare style that it has had in the last few iterations. Â From Activision’s standpoint, the Black Ops games were two of the most popular entries in the shooter in terms of sales.
We’ll find out soon enough, Activision traditionally announces their new Call of Duty games around May.
While many are excited to hear about the next Call of Duty game, Sledgehammer is still releasing downloadable content for Advanced Warfare. Â The second pack of DLC “Ascendence” arrives on March 31st for Xbox One and Xbox 360.
