Dark Souls 3 will be released in April 2016 in the US and Europe according to Bandai Namco Entertainment. This news comes shortly after we first received a release date for the game in Japan, which will be a month earlier than overseas, hitting in March 2016.

Dark Souls 3 sees the return of series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki to the director’s chair, after producing the last game and taking time out for Bloodborne. The game is said to be a mixture of the two styles of gameplay, featuring faster movement than the original Dark Souls, but not quite as fast as Bloodborne was.

Upon its initial announcement the game had a release date of just “early 2016” so the April window is much more specific. We don’t have the exact date just yet, but that should come as we get closer to the game’s eventual release.

Until then you can check out our wide variety of coverage for Dark Souls 3, which we were able to get a look at while at E3 2015 in June. We definitely came away impressed with what we saw, as the demo featured some really great gameplay on the current gen consoles. You can check out our rundown of the demo, our impressions of what we saw, and an interview with Mike Chang from Bandai Namco.

Dark Souls 3 will hit PS4, Xbox One, and PC in April 2016.
