Death Stranding has a lot of game mechanics, but they pretty much all come back to using your legs to carry cargo from one place to another. And the best tool you have for that is the Power Skeleton, a piece of equipment that both increases your carry capacity and makes getting around a ton easier. While you get the schematics and a set of these in the course of the main campaign, upgrading it is an optional activity. Here’s where to get and how to upgrade the Power Skeleton in Death Stranding. We’ll also show you how to use the Power Skeleton, just in case you were confused.
Where to Get the Power Skeleton
As I said before, the Power Skeleton is given to you while playing through the campaign. There’s no way to miss it, so don’t worry too much if you don’t have it just yet. However, there is a way to get it faster, even beyond our suggestion for beginners that they rush through some parts of the campaign. The Power Skeleton is given to Sam once he connects The Engineer to the Chiral Network, so you’ll want to do that as quickly as possible.
To accomplish this just play main missions until you reach the Central Region. At one point in this area you’ll be tasked with connecting all the disparate preppers who are hiding out in the wild. One of these is The Engineer, whose shelter sits south of Lake Knot City. Get him connected up and you’ll receive the Power Skeleton version 1. Of course this implies there are upgraded versions, so let’s explain how to upgrade the Power Skeleton in Death Stranding.
How to Upgrade the Power Skeleton
The short answer is to become really good friends with The Engineer. This guy will upgrade your Power Skeleton at certain levels of friendship with him. What you want to do is do any tasks that will enhance your connection with him. This includes accepting missions he requests, both at his shelter and in other locations. Any lost cargo destined for The Engineer will be helpful. Make sure to deliver it yourself if possible, rather than entrusting it to other players. Try to find any lost cargo you can and eventually you’ll get a high enough connection level to receive the Power Skeleton version 3. This will really help you carry more items by increasing your carry capacity basically to its maximum.
How to Use the Power Skeleton
And just to be sure everyone gets the most out of their newfound item, let’s break down how to use the Power Skeleton in Death Stranding. It’s pretty passive, but you do need to be sure it is equipped onto Sam. Head into the inventory screen, scroll to the Power Skeleton or whichever augment you want to use, select it and choose to equip it. This will strap it to Sam’s legs, increasing your carrying capacity and/or making you faster. Keep in mind though, it runs on batteries, so be sure you know how to recharge them.
That’s all you need to know about where to get, how to upgrade, and how to use the Power Skeleton in Death Stranding.
