Junker Queen

Overwatch 2 Junker Queen Guide: Abilities, Ultimate, Tips, and More

Recommended Videos

Junker Queen is the latest Tank Hero to join the ever-expanding roster of Overwatch 2. She’s a force to be reckoned with, being able to tackle the frontlines while also sustaining lethal damage. Move over Roadhog, there’s another buckshot bruiser in the mix! In any case, here’s what you need to know about the new Hero like her abilities, synergies, and more.

Junker Queen Abilities in Overwatch 2

Junker Queen wields her signature Scattergun which is just a fancy term for her pump action shotgun. There are six shots in the chamber, which is quite standard. What might throw you off is that, despite being a shotgun, the reticle is a lot smaller than that of Reaper’s or Roadhog’s. This makes this gun have a tighter spread. It also does mean that you have to be more precise with your shots.

Since she is a shotgun user, her kit will mostly be that of a close-ranged character. To complement that, she has her Carnage ability. Junker Queen swings her axe directly in front of her in a small AoE, dealing a good amount of base damage and damage over time. The DoT effect will be explained a bit later.

To close the gap between her and an enemy, she has her Jagged Blade. This doubles as a melee attack that can deal DoT effects or can be used as a throwable knife. If thrown, you can recall it. If you manage to hit an opponent with the thrown knife, recalling it will actually pull them towards you, making them easy prey. Any enemy hit by the knife as a melee or throw will be affected by DoT.

Next, she can use her Commanding Shout ability. She gives all allies within a 15-meter radius 50 health. Allies at max health will be given overheal for the duration.

Finally, her Ultimate ability, Rampage, is an AoE charge that deals DoT to all hit enemies. It’ll also prevent healing for those affected.

A majority of Junker Queen’s abilities deal damage over time (DoT). As part of her passive, all damage dealt from damage over time will count as healing towards her at a 1 to 1 ratio. If you deal 40 DoT damage to an enemy, she will gain 40 hit points back. It’s what keeps her tanky because of her small health pool.

Best Team Compositions for Junker Queen in Overwatch 2

Junker Queen is best used in dive comps, a term used quite often in team-based shooters like Overwatch. For those unfamiliar with the term, “dive comps” are oftentimes used to categorize setups where the team is offense-oriented and want to get straight to the point. Popular heroes are those with high mobility like Tracer, Genji, Lucio, Mercy, Pharah, and Sombra.

With a character like JQ, you want to have a team ready to cover you if there’s a lot of damage coming her way. Ideally, you’ll also want some kind of support to deal with any Heroes on the enemy team that can take advantage of her close range. Long-ranged attackers can easily take her down if not dealt with.

Junker Queen Strategies in Overwatch 2

Junker Queen is an extremely solid character for pushing that extra bit of damage out of her team. If you need that one big push to reclaim your objective or break a tie, she can do just that with a proper Rampage Charge and Commanding Shout. As she withers down and prevents healing for her enemies, she can also provide a bit more survivability for her teammates.

While she can be classified as a very flexible Hero given her abilities, Junker Queen can provide where another team member falls short. It makes her that much more valuable, having a decently high skill ceiling. Even with her nerfs from the beta to now, she’s still quite high up there in terms of her power ranking in the roster.

Overwatch 2 is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
