The Season of Opulence has a ton of different weapons and armor pieces that you can get from completing the Menagerie. Bungie has taken a new path by introducing the Chalice of Opulence, an item that allows players to slot different runes into it that can determine the items that drop in the Menagerie Chest. There are four different types of Runes, with Purple Runes, Red Runes, Green Runes, and Blue Runes. This guide will explain how to go about getting Green Runes for the Chalice of Opulence in Destiny 2.
To start getting Green Runes you have to upgrade the Chalice to Rune Compatibility II
Before you’ll ever even see a Green Rune in Destiny 2, you need to actually upgrade the Chalice of Opulence to the second level of Rune Compatibility. If you’re not seeing any green runes and you haven’t upgraded the chalice, this is to be expected. Once you’ve purchased the Rune Compatibility II upgrade for the Chalice of Opulence you will gain the ability to obtain green runes and then slot them into the chalice.
Green Runes will guarantee class-specific head armor, hand cannons, and sidearms. The upgrade will cost 3500 Imperials, so be sure to loot the chests on Werner’s Barge in Nessus and complete bounties and triumphs to earn more Imperials. You can perform the chalice upgrade in the pursuits tab in the game menus. Just hover over the Chalice Icon in the Pursuits tab and click the button for details which will bring you to the screen which allows you to purchase your upgrades.
