A TikTok video posted by Imelectric (@kingsleydagoat6) shows a young boy describing his skin as “peach” and saying there’s no difference between people with peach skin and people with brown skin. The clip went up with the caption “racism should end!” It has since been viewed over ten million times.
The boy sits on what looks like a sofa, smiling as an adult off camera, who appears to be his mother, asks him questions. When she asks what color his skin is, he says “Peach.” She agrees it’s “not white” and “kind of more like a peach.” She then asks about his best friend at school, Vinicius, and about someone she calls Sister Joyce. He answers “Brown” both times.
Her last question is what the difference is between people with peach skin and people with brown skin. “Nothing,” he says. A few viewers suggested the boy had been coached, with one writing, “Told that kid exactly what to say.” Far more of the replies were about the people raising him.
Viewers say the boy was raised right
“Raised right” and close variations of it appear over and over in the comments, often aimed at his parents. Another large group compared him with grown-ups and wrote that a small child understood something many adults don’t.
One viewer wrote, “This little boy was raised, correct.” Another said he had “a better mindset then alot of ADULTS.” A third wrote that hearing the same answer from their own kid would mean “i won as a parent.”
Commenters share their own words for skin color
Plenty of viewers said they had called their own skin peach as kids, and one asked who else used the peach crayon or color to draw people. Others wrote about different words their families used. A few questioned the framing altogether.
One commenter said their parents told them their skin was “salmon,” and another said they used to call themselves “caramel.” Another wrote, “Calling it peach and not white is actually a fair point.” One viewer pushed back and asked whether “saying someone is black is racist now.”
Several commenters joked that the boy’s best friend was Vinicius Junior, and a few wrote that they thought the clip would turn into a “vini edit.” Others simply said Vinicius is a cool name. Videos of adults asking kids pointed questions on camera have drawn very different reactions before, including a Minnesota mother’s video about ICE.
