DICE has revealed one of the new features/modes for Battlefield V.  The developers say that one of these new modes is called “Airborne” and it will allow you to parachute into the battlefield with squads.

A post via the Battlefield V Twitter gave a short description of the new Airborne Mode.  “Say hello to Airborne: a new Battlefield V mode where you’ll parachute into the battlefield and work with your squad to destroy enemy artillery, or defend them and make sure the threat from above is dealt with.”

Airborne Mode ticks another box in the “DICE might be doing a Battle Royale Mode for Battlefield V but isn’t talking about it yet” checklist.  A number of different gameplay tweaks seem to be coming together to form a much different Battlefield game than Battlefield 1 and its predecessors.

While it’s never been a hard stretch to think that the Battlefield could do Battle Royale, the evidence is certainly starting to mount that DICE is going to have all the tools available to create a Battlefield Battle Royale game or include one in Battlefield V.

Despite all of the things to look forward to in the next Battlefield game, DICE has found itself in the middle of a controversy regarding Battlefield V.  Following the recent reveal of the game, many Battlefield fans cried foul when they saw some of the customization options in the game.  Nevertheless, DICE says they are sticking to their plan.

Battlefield V is slated for release in October on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
