Sony has officially confirmed rumors that Team Ico boss Fumito Ueda has left the company.  After the rumors surfaced last week that the creator of classic PlayStation games like Ico and Shadow of Colossus was leaving the electronics giant, the developer did say that he was committed to finishing The Last Guardian despite having officially left the company to work on other projects.

The oft-delayed The Last Guardian may or may not be finished as it stands, but Sony reaffirms that the developer will finish his work on the project.  The game which did have a 2011 release date attached to it at one point, was recently delayed, and this internal turmoil may be the culprit at Team Ico.

We haven’t seen much from the title, but the screenshots that have been shown gave fans hope that this would be another in the line of great titles for Ueda.
