The animation and digital content studio Ember Lab is readying themselves to release their first game ever, titled Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Many eyes have been on this title due to its enchanting visuals, cute characters, and earthy soundtrack. Although a digital version of Kena: Bridge of Spirits is releasing on the 21st of September 2021, collectors will be happy to know that a physical edition is also coming out in November.
The announcement comes from Maximum Games, with who Ember Lab is partnering. Maximum Games will be distributing the physical deluxe edition of Kena: Bridge of Spirits on PS4 and PS5. This edition of the game will include a physical copy of the game, exclusive stickers, as well as all the bonus content that comes with the digital deluxe edition of the game. For those who need a reminder, this includes the official Kena: Bridge of Spirits soundtrack, golden Rot skin, unique hats for the Rot, and a unique Kena staff.
Although Maximum Games has yet to state when you will be able to pick up a copy of Kena, they have sent out a Tweet stating that pre-orders are set to go live soon, and the game will go on sale in November. Maximum Games also confirmed that the game’s distribution will not be limited to the UK.
Ember Lab had previously stated that they would look into physical editions of Kena: Bridge of Spirits “later on”. This is understandable for a small development studio that may not have the budget to print physical copies of their game. However, the confirmation that a physical version is on the way will be good news for many.
When speaking on the upcoming physical release of Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Josh Grier, who is the chief operations officer at Ember Lab, stated the following: “Our community was extremely vocal about their desire for a physical edition from the moment we first announced the game”. He also stated that he is “thrilled to be partnering with Maximum Games to make that happen so quickly after the initial launch”.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits releases on the 21st of September on PS4, PS5, and PC. Physical editions of the game are scheduled to release on PS4 and PS5 in November.
