The Next Update for No Man’s Sky is just hours away from release. When it arrives it will introduce a number of new features to the game, many of which the space-faring exploration game’s fans have been waiting for since launch. In the final hours ahead of the update, Sean Murray took to the No Man’s Sky blog to write an apologetic and hopeful note to the community.
Murray takes blame for some of the missteps that Hello Games made in the lead up to the release of No Man’s Sky in 2016, but also notes that many people are putting a lot of time into No Man’s Sky as they’ve released a number of big updates in the two years since then. Murray wants to open the lines of communication once again with the fans of No Man’s Sky, claiming that the developer is “desperate to communicate better.” To bolster these efforts, Hello Games has launched the Galactic Atlas. The website features different points of interest that players have nominated through a community survey.
No Man’s Sky NEXT isn’t the final form for the game, according to Murray. The developer says he hopes that one day the small team at Hello Games will consider No Man’s Sky “finished,” but he says that “there’s still so much more we want to do.”
Apparently learning lessons from previous mistakes, Murray does not tease any of the upcoming features for No Man’s Sky set to arrive after the NEXT UPDATE, but it sounds like Hello Games will be continuing to build on the game for some time to come.
No Man’s Sky NEXT is set to arrive as free update on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on July 24th, 2018.
