The Plants vs. Zombies franchise looks to grow even more next week with something big being announced at Microsoft’s E3 2015 conference on Monday, June 15th. The video warns fans to “:get ready to soil your plants, hinting at a pretty big announcement, possibly being Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2.
There are a couple of things that point to this being Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. First up, EA has already said that a new one would be coming at some point, and even that news should arrive at E3. The second are all the sounds in the background of the teaser video, which seem to be from the Garden Warfare version, rather than the tower defense games.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is the more action-packed spin-off of the original PvZ proper. Plants vs. Zombies hit the scene first in 2009 with the mega-popular tower defense game. It has since went to multiple platforms, and had a direct sequel that took a more free-to-play approach.
Garden Warfare spun off in 2014, hitting PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. The game is a class-based third-person-shooter that lets lets players alter their character’s traits in many ways. This has led a lot of fans to speculate that any sequel would follow in the free-to-play steps of its predecessor.
We should find out more at the Microsoft E3 2015 Media Briefing, which takes place Monday, June 15th, at 9:30am Pacific Time.
