A TikTok account that retells stories sent in by followers has gone viral with a claim that a woman’s engagement news was met with a confession from her best friend. The account, @txcstories, told the story in the first person, saying the friend admitted the fiancé only approached the woman at a club because of a dare.
The video has drawn over two million views, according to Daily Dot, which presented it as the creator’s own experience. However, the account’s bio describes it as “Retelling your stories & confessions” and asks viewers to send in submissions, and this video carries a #followerstory tag in its caption. That means the person on camera is likely telling a story someone else sent in.
In the story, the woman says her fiancé proposed the day before she drove to her best friend’s house to share the news in person. She showed off the ring while shouting with excitement, but the friend allegedly looked deflated and didn’t smile for several seconds. The friend then reminded her that the couple only met because of her, which the woman agreed was true.
The best friend allegedly said the dare was meant to break her heart
According to the story, the friend smirked and said the woman didn’t know everything. She then revealed that the fiancé had approached her at the club only because the friend dared him to. The plan was supposedly to make the woman fall in love and then break her heart, as she had once said that no man had ever done that to her.
The friend claimed the fiancé secretly recorded parts of their early dates and reported back for months so the two of them could laugh at her. Eventually, the calls and recordings stopped, and he began responding less. The friend said she assumed the dare was still running, so the engagement caught her off guard, and she was coming clean because “the game had gone too far.”
The narrator says she still can’t understand why her best friend would set up something like that. Most commenters landed on the same answer, as many called the friend jealous. One viewer laid out a three-step plan that began with “She’s not your friend” and ended with leaving the fiancé at the altar because TikTok dared her to, while another compared it to Cruel Intentions.
Several viewers argued the dare backfired on the friend, saying the fiancé seems to have fallen for the woman for real. Others urged her to talk to him before making any decision about the wedding. Betrayal by a best friend is a familiar thread in stories like this one, much like the woman who said her best friend got engaged to her ex months after the breakup.
Not everyone bought the story, however. One commenter said it was “too reddit for it to be real,” while another said it was giving Wattpad and added an apology in case it turned out to be true. Another pointed out that the story did not happen to the woman telling it, which matches how the account describes its own videos.
The account labeled this video as part one, which suggests a follow-up could reveal whether the woman confronted her fiancé or cut ties with her best friend.
Attack of the Fanboy was unable to independently verify the best friend’s side of the story, as this account originates solely from txcstories’ TikTok video.
