It looks like cases where children are getting into trouble with the person they could trust the most are making a lot of headlines lately. Following the news of a nurse who was supposed to take care of a medically fragile toddler but ended up abusing the child, another case has come to light where multiple children have become victims. The incident took place in Ohio, where a daycare worker had abused multiple children to the point that the aftereffects haunt them to this day.
As reported by Fox News, the worker at Over the Rainbow Children’s Center, named Katelyn Ann Strohacker, is accused of terrorizing multiple toddlers in her care. This includes horrific actions, such as leaving an innocent toddler face down under a blanket and taping the 2-year-old repeatedly with tape. During the investigation, more of her disturbing actions came to light, which has left everyone shaken.
Per the court records obtained by Fox News Digital, Katelyn was sentenced to 8 to 12 years in jail. The outlet says that the daycare worker is convicted on 31 counts, which include child endangerment and kidnapping. The worker is taken away for good, but it wasn’t just one toddler who suffered, as the authorities found out that there were around eight children who were under Katelyn’s care, with many now going through long-term trauma.
From kicking to yanking, those innocent toddlers have gone through a lot!
Taping a toddler wasn’t just a single occasion. Storhacker reportedly carried it out multiple times, and once this abuse was also intervened in by a coworker who found the toddler restrained. The authorities then got their hands on surveillance footage, which revealed around eight victims of the worker’s abuse.
They revealed one of the disturbing cases, where she purposely shut a helpless toddler’s finger in a cabinet door. Her actions for the toddlers, despite having “all necessary training and continuing education” included, yanking, pushing, and kicking those poor souls. Katelyn has been a part of this daycare for over three years, and it looks like her service has been really tough for the children as well as the parents who put their trust in her.
Many victims’ parents have broken their silence on this horrifying situation, with one of them saying, “For our daughter, she’s been trapped in a cycle of sleep aggression and night terrors at two years old.” This suggests that she has given these innocent kids long-term trauma from her disturbing actions.
For that, she’d be facing up to 8 to 12 years in prison. This case, along with a North Carolina daycare worker who was charged with child abuse due to a bizarre incident, can make parents concerned about who to trust. Regardless, strict measures should be taken by daycare centers so something like this is prevented way before it could take a horrific turn.
