This man saw a Black child with an all‑white family, then he asked an inappropriate question: ‘Sorry?’

The man asked whether the child feels safe.

A video showing a man asking an unusual question of a Black boy sitting with an all-white family is spreading online. As reported by the Daily Dot, this man reportedly saw a Black kid with an all-white family in what appears to be a restaurant. Following this, he approached them and asked if he was safe. Apart from the family, he also asked the boy whether he felt safe with them. No comments from the man were found after this incident reached a significant audience.

As seen in the video, the overlay states, “When you see a black kid with a white family check on em.” As he approaches the family, the man can be heard asking, “You speak English?” To which a man from the family nods. Then the question he asks next makes that man reply, “Sorry?” As he asks, “Whose black kid is this?” The man who is recording then repeats his question, “Is this your kid?” And then the man from the family says, “My kid,” and can be seen smiling.

Following this, the man who was recording asks, “Is he safe with y’all?” To which the other man says, “Yes,” and the camera then turns towards the boy with glasses, who also appears to be smiling. This is the point when the boy is asked, “You feel safe with them?” He also responds with, “Yes.” There’s no confrontation involving racism; the person then leaves, while others sitting nearby appear visibly confused in the video.

Viewers seemed displeased by the man asking such a question

The footage was reshared on Twitter/X by @ginamilan_, garnering nearly 400,000 views. The person claimed in the caption, “A Black guy walks up to a Black kid with an all-white family, asks whose kid this is, and then asks if he feels safe with them.” They also added, “Who the hell does that? And these same people turn around and call us the racists? Disgusting.” Several people shared their views on the family incident in the comment section.

One wrote, “Yeah,  maybe a family being out in public behaving like civilized people and seeing a father present was a bit confusing to him.” Another claimed, “All he did was show how racist he is.” Apart from these, some seemed enthusiastic towards the man, writing, “Nothing wrong with asking as it is unusual. I’ve seen many videos of white people doing the same thing.” The comment section consisted of similar ideas from the audience.

Despite the video gaining significant traction, the identities of the people in the story remain unknown. The incident is not independently verified.
