You can get Heller’s Cutter in a cutter crate at Argos Extractors Mining Outpost during the Back to Vectera main story quest. However, don’t worry if you already completed this mission because you can return here and still grab Heller’s Cutter anytime.

When you travel to Vectera, you want to land at the Argos Extractors Mining Outpost.

Once you land, head to the building using the airlock, as shown in the picture above.

After entering the building, you must take your first right and head through this door.

When you are inside the room, you’ll find Heller’s Cutter inside a cutter crate similar to the one you found at the beginning of the game when you first grabbed the standard cutter.

Here are the stats for Heller’s Cutter:

  • Energy: 4
  • Fire Rate: 76
  • Range: 3
  • Accuracy: 76.7%
  • Mass: 4.00
  • Value: 712
  • Disassembler: +20% damage against robots.

While the only difference between the standard cutter and Heller’s Cutter is the Disassembler perk, it is an excellent replacement if you accidentally sold your cutter or got rid of it by accident.

PSA: When mining tougher materials, you need to hold the fire button and then your ADS to supercharge the cutter’s beam. ADS can be activated by holding the Left Mouse and Right Mouse buttons together. You will go through your resources much quicker but can destroy tougher materials.

Is the Cutter Effective as a Weapon in Starfield?

Yes, the Cutter is very effective in the early game of Starfield, I personally would say that you will find high use for it until at least level 12 in terms of combat. Apart from that you should usually just be using it for mining more than anything else. However, I certainly know how entertaining it can be utilizing the Cutter as a laser weapon so there’s nothing stopping you from trying that out!

Overall, you should absolutely grab Heller’s Cutter as soon as you can especially if you are planning to use the Cutter for combat a lot. Especially because of the 20% damage increase against any robots.

Where to Purchase a New Cutter in Starfield

Considering there is so much loot in Starfield, and you will be selling tons of it, there’s a high possibility that you will accidentally sell your Cutter. This happened to me when I accidentally sold both my regular Cutter and Heller’s Cutter and was left wondering where I could purchase a new one since it is such an important tool. The good news is that you can buy a new Cutter from Shepherd’s General Store in Akila City.

Akila City is located in the Cheyenne Star System, and Shepherd’s General Store is immediately on your left-hand side upon entering the city. Talk to the store owner, scroll over to weapons, and you will find a brand-new Cutter for a few hundred credits.

If you accidentally sell that one (very possible), check out other general stores and Trade Authorities throughout the galaxy, and you are bound to come across another one!
