The Division 2 has a vast abundance of crafting materials all ripe for the picking and knowing how to find and utilise them effectively will be at the forefront of any player’s mind. One of the ‘rarer’ crafting materials to stumble across is ‘printer filament’ but it is also one of the most valuable crafting materials for players in the endgame portion of The Division 2. This guide will take you through everything you need to know about The Division 2 printer filament; how to obtain it and also what it can be used for.

How to Get Printer Filament in The Division 2

Printer Filament can be gathered in the experience by a single easy to complete method. In order to gather the resource, you must deconstruct any of the following: Gear Protocol Mods, Gear System Mods, or Skill Attachments all of which will be unlocked during your general playthrough of the game and also by crafting. In turn for following the method, you will be given Printer Filament for deconstructing the mods and the higher the tier of the mod that you deconstruct, the more printer filament you will receive.

You can deconstruct mods by simply going into your inventory and marking them as ‘junk’, then deconstructing them with the correct button prompt as showcased in the inventory menu.

What Printer Filament is used for in The Division 2

The resource is a superior crafting material and can be used for two individual reasons. The first of which is for crafting gear mods, specifically ‘System’ gear mods and ‘Protocol gear mods. The second use is a reason that will see more people wanting to gather it due to the fact that it can be used to upgrade the crafting bench for each world tier that you will progress through.

The highest world tier in the game at the moment is world tier five. In order to upgrade the crafting bench, you will need printer filament each time so deconstructing those mods is essential to be able to craft some of the best exotics and other necessities in the game.

Will you be gathering printer filament in The Division 2?
