More Information Revealed About New Pokémon Meltan

Recommended Videos

Back when Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! were first announced, it was revealed that those who played both the new mainline games and Pokémon GO would be able to meet a never-before-seen “special Pokémon.” Just recently, the new Steel-type Mythical Pokémon Meltan was introduced to the world. Today (October 10), some more information has come out that will help us get to know the new Pokémon a little better.

The steps one has to take to catch a Meltan are explained in a press release sent out by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, and Niantic. In it, it is revealed that when a player sends a Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Eevee! for the first time, they will receive a Mystery Box in GO. Opening this Box will cause wild Meltan to start appearing in the mobile game. Once caught in GO, Meltan can be transferred to Let’s Go like any other Pokémon. After being opened, the Mystery Box will close and can only be opened again after a set period of time. Once this time is up, players will have to send another Pokémon from GO to Let’s Go to open the Box again. A new video seems to imply that players will want to catch as many Meltan as they can.

Another new video largely focuses on the character of Meltan, which is portrayed as friendly and fun-loving, if not a little bit trouble-making. The most interesting thing about the video, however, is that it seems to imply that Meltan can evolve, and that evolution will occur when a large number of them gather together all at once. If correct, this is likely why the other video encourages players to catch as many of the new Pokémon as possible.
