Bandai Namco has released a trailer for SoulCalibur 6 confirming the return of one of the series’ most important characters: Siegfried Schtauffen.
Siegfried has been a part of the Soul series since the very beginning (a feat only matched by Nightmare, Cervantes and Mitsurugi) and has always been deeply involved in the overall plot due to his bond with Nightmare and the Soul Edge. With the exception of SoulCalibur 2 where he appeared as unlockable/alternate costumes for Nightmare, Siegfried has been available as a playable character wielding a massive Zweihänder in a desperate bid to atone for his past.
Here is more from Bandai Namco:
After losing to Kilik and his comrades in the form of Nightmare, Siegfried awoke in an unfamiliar place and he is now unable to free himself from the unforgiving memories of his time spent as the cursed sword’s puppet. The memory of having killed his own father is haunting him. His true nightmare has only just begun…Full of regrets, he is looking for redemption and he desperately wants to free himself from the cursed sword’s grasp!
As mentioned before, Siegfried’s weapon of choice is a Zweihänder which he uses to overwhelm the opponent with a series of heavy, crushing blows. He retains that familiar fighting style and gets a brand-new super attack to go along with it, where he forgoes the glitz and flair seen in other cast members’ supers in favor of simply doing a single super-powered, flame-infused strike after launching his opponent into the air.
SoulCalibur 6 is due out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2018.
