Keyshun Jones is currently serving a three-year prison sentence after orchestrating a scheme that involved stealing more than $80,000 from a Chick-fil-A located in Grapevine, Texas. As reported by the NY Post, the incident, which took place in November 2025, saw Jones ring up approximately 800 fraudulent orders for mac & cheese before processing refunds directly to his own personal credit cards.
When asked about his specific choice of item to fuel his theft, Jones pointed toward the menu pricing. “As good and delicious as our mac & cheese is, it is unfortunately one of our most expensive items,” he stated while speaking from the Tarrant County jail. The trays of & and cheese cost roughly $100 each when ordered for delivery, which allowed the total amount of the stolen funds to escalate quickly as he processed hundreds of fake transactions.
Jones had been employed by the restaurant chain for seven years prior to the events. He claims that he had already lost his job at the restaurant when he returned to the location to visit with friends. According to his account of the day, he noticed a register left unattended and decided to step behind the counter to initiate the scheme. Security camera footage reportedly captured the actions, showing Jones repeatedly ringing up the trays of food.
He says it was not a long-term plan
Despite the methodical nature of the theft, Jones claims that the act was not a long-term plan he had developed before walking into the building. “Everyone thinks it was more premeditated, ‘Oh, I went in there with a plan.’” That was definitely not the case,” he explained. He further added. “I let anger, as most people do, let anger and those feelings get in the way, and I went, and I made a bad decision.”
The legal fallout from the incident was significant, as prosecutors reportedly initially sought a 10-year sentence for property theft and fraud. Jones and his attorney were eventually able to negotiate a plea deal that resulted in a three-year sentence, with credit for time already served.
Jones feels that the outcome was fair given the context of his actions. “My attorney spoke with the DA, and we kind of explained everything. We all came to an agreement where it wasn’t one of those heinous acts … They got to know, ‘This guy isn’t what we all thought he would be,’” he noted.
Even after the conviction, Jones expresses a strong desire to return to the food industry once he is released on parole. He claims that he is still on good terms with the colleagues he worked with for years.
He describes his personality as being far removed from the narrative that has formed online following the news of his arrest. “I’m not what the internet claims me to be. I’m goofy. I’m fun. I’m kind-spirited. Everyone seems to like me … Hopefully I can show the rest of the world that I’m worth that second chance,” he said.
His wife, Keana Jones, reportedly offered her support during the process, describing him as a “sweet boy.” Jones remains hopeful that he can eventually find employment in the restaurant world again, even if his former employer at the Grapevine location is unlikely to hire him back.
