How to Start Farming in Skyrim Anniversary Edition

Skyrim’s Anniversary Edition has introduced a lot of new Creation Club content. This content ranges from simple additions like armor and weapons to entirely new mechanics such as fishing. Thanks to a certain creation, owning and maintaining a farm is one of the many additions that players can enjoy. Of course, they’ll first need to learn where and how to start farming in Skyrim Anniversary Edition.

All Requirements to Start Farming in Skyrim

Farming is available solely in the Goldenhills Plantation, a location added as part of the Anniversary Edition’s Creation Club content. It’s also not available as one of the four free Creations added as an update for the Special Edition, so you’ll need to purchase the Anniversary Edition if you want to farm for yourself. Finally, you’ll need to reach the plantation just east of Rorikstead and complete a special quest. Once that’s done, you’ll finally have access to farming, with the “A Farmer’s Life For Me” quest helping you get used to the unique systems.

As part of the quest, you’ll have three major objectives:

• Plant 10 crops. This includes certain foods and ingredients such as potatoes and deathbell.
• Hire a steward. You can bring a follower along with you to the plantation and assign them as a steward.
  • You’ll also need to talk to the steward to hire two additional farmhands. Later, you’ll need to speak with them again to purchase livestock once you’ve done the next step of this quest.
• Build an animal pen. You can do this at the Farmer’s Workbench outside of the house. A pen requires 3 firewood and 1 set of nails.

After you’ve completed these tasks, all that’s left is to wait for a few in-game days to pass. Eventually, you’ll be prompted to talk to your steward and collect money gained from the farm’s activities. You can also check a cupboard inside a house to find extra items produced by the farm. The plantation will be completely set up by this point, making you a fully-fledged Skyrim farmer!
