How to Get ODM Gear in Fortnite

Fortnite Chapter Four, Season Two‘s trailer was full of exciting new features, weapons, and cosmetics — such as the deadly Kinetic Blade, powerful Havoc Pump Shotgun, and exhilarating Grind Rails.

One of the most stand-out features of the trailer, however, was the appearance of Attack on Titan’s Eren Jaeger and the iconic ODM Gear used to defend humanity from Titans. While there are no (real) Titans to slay in Fortnite, you can utilize ODM Gear to zip around the Island and defeat any enemy standing in your way.

In Fortnite, ODM Gear can be found randomly on the ground, in Chests, and Scout Regiment Footlockers. Being Mythic items, their bright orange glow makes them hard to miss.

If you’re in a hurry to unlock Eren Jaeger, the easiest method to find ODM Gear is to find and open a Scout Regiment Footlocker in a Guard Tower. Not only do these have an incredibly high chance of containing ODM Gear, but you’ll also be able to obtain a Thunder Spear and complete other Attack on Titan quests nearby.

Scout Regiment Footlockers are large wooden chests found throughout the Island. You’ll find the highest density of them in the North West part of the island, which is also where you’ll find most Guard Towers and Titan Targets needed to complete Attack on Titan quests.

Put your (very brief) Scout Regiment training to the test and use your ODM Gear to slice the nape of Titan Targets found nearby and unlock the Titan Strike pickaxe, swing from trees to unlock the A World Without Walls Loading Screen, and hit opponents to unlock the Determined Eren Emoticon.

How Does ODM Gear Work in Fortnite?

Players can grapple on any surface with ODM Gear and vertically swing speedily around it, exactly like in the anime. You can also attack opponents with its blades and automatically boost back into the air to escape or land another devastating blow.

To make aiming more manageable, you can hover briefly after swinging to line up your shot perfectly or even take some incredible-looking photos in Replay mode. Every use of ODM Gear will deplete the bar found next to its icon, destroying it when emptied.

What Does ODM Stand For?

The ODM in ODM Gear stands for Omni-directional mobility. That’s essentially a fancy way to say ‘gear that can move in all directions.’ Using ODM Gear requires at least three years of training and incredible body strength.

Unlike the anime, however, our characters will magically be able to use this gear perfectly. Still, it wouldn’t hurt to practice your skills by achieving Accolades and earning some sweet XP in the meantime.
